Siddha Ganapati, Gokarna

Gokarna Ganapati Temple is one of the famous and very old Siddha Ganapati shrines in the State. The temple has a 5 ft tall idol of Lord Ganapati in the form of a young Brahmin. It is in the same premises as the Gokarna Mahabaleshwar. It was here that Lord Ganapati disguised as a young Brahmin and secured the sacred shivling from the hands of the demon Ravana. It is considered auspicious to offer worship here before proceeding to visit Gokarna Mahabaleshwar.

In 1977AD a devotee of Lord Ganesha gave a 1acre land to the Shree Ganesha Trust to construct the temple.  After seven years, Smt. Kamalamma and Shri C. L. Lakshmanaraju sponsored the cost for the Panchamukhi idol of Lord Ganesha. On 6th Feb, 1984 the Ganesh Pratisthanapa happened under the guidance of Shri Shri Shri Abhinava Vidyateertha Swami of Sharatha Peetha Shrungeri.

Panchamukhi Ganesha one of the very famous Ganesha temples in Bangalore.

I would like to thank the temple trust members who provided me with the photograph of the idol to put on this blog.
